About the photos

While on an expeditionary artist residency in Svalbard, Norway, novelist Stacy Carlson used a wooden pinhole camera and a 60-year-old light meter to compose photographs that express the wondrous landscape of the far north. She accidentally double-exposed some of the photographs, which adds a numinous quality to the stories they tell.
